My two year old loves his new helmet! On the right side you press the button for siren sounds, and that's his favorite. The left side lets you talk through the speaker, but he can't really hold it down long enough yet. He still loves it anyway. It seems to be quite durable, since it's holding up very well in our house. :D
Great addition to the firefighter halloween costume

This was a great addition to the firefighter halloween costume. Only negative I saw was the adjusting straps to make the helmet fit snug kept coming undone on my 5-year-old daughter's head. She still wears it around the house to play.
Great for imaginative play!

Bought this helmet for my 4 yr old son. He loved it! Unfortunately it was broken within a week. Not sure if he sat or put his foot on the top, but the pressure broke the hinge of the mask. Made of plastic. We glued it back into place, but the hinge obviously glued shut. This didn't last too long either. He still plays with it, but now it is in 2 pieces. Would love to see a new durable, flexible hinge on a new and improved version. Would buy it again.
for fun not really educational

my son really enjoys playing with this hat and uses his imagination rescuing people in need.
Great idea, not durable.

I bought this fire helmet from Walmart for my 3 year old son who wants to be a Firefighter when he grows up, he loves anything to do with the Fire Service. He was so excited when we got it, but it only lasted about 3 weeks before the hinge broke, and he wasn't being too rough with it like he is with some other toys. He was very upset so I took it back to Walmart and they replaced it, it is now about 4 weeks later and the hinge has broken on this one as well, he is so distraught as he loves his fire helmet. However, I called Mattel Customer Service and they were very helpful and are sending me a $20 voucher.
Disappointing

My sons (age 3 and 5) saw this in the store and it was all they wanted for Christmas. Santa brought two and they were so excited, they loved it. Overall it was exactly what they wanted and very fun. Unfortunately within a month the hinge for the visor had broken on both. It is unfixable. They were very sad and I am very disappointed.
Not impressed

This one was a real disappointment for my little Fire Chief. First off, the mask assembly is so heavy the whole helmet wants to keep falling forward over my son's eyes. Secondly, the adjustable plastic head band keeps pulling out of its sloppy press-fit "anchors" rendering the whole helmet useless. Lastly, the microphone feature isn't nearly loud enough. I could fix the anchors and maybe get the band to finally fit right but considering the other flaws I think this thing is headed for the attic. Too bad because it looks really cool and my boy is attracted to it only to get frustrated. I forget what I paid for this but whatever it was it was too much.
It sucks :(

The helmet rests on the bridge of my childs nose, and the plastic part that adjusts the helmet to fit the childs head pops out too easily. This in turn frustrates my child...and me because I have to fix it every ten seconds! ALl in all, the toy is awful. The service sending it was great though!
